I've used both a Dremel & Peticure. I purchased Bamboo Perfect Paws Dog grinder and like this brand best. Peticure has had battery problems since inception. I've never had a problem with that brand but prefer Bamboo brand due a little better balance to give more control and more importantly, Bamboo uses a grinding stone instead of sanding band. Grinding stones last a long time and create a smoother nail.Understand that a corded implement for dog nail grinding is always going to be superior to battery operated if working on large tough nails. Due to more power, if it's on, it's on. With a battery you are draining a little power each time.I have 4 Golden Retrievers. I use the grinding stone type nail trimmers mostly to smooth after clipping with a scissor type trimmer, since it cuts from both sides it does crush the top of the nail like a guillotine type of trimmer. Before using any type of grinder on your dog go to:[...] or Google "Doberman Dawn How I Dremel Dog Nails" a step by step, with photos, instructions on how to properly grind a dog's nails.I really like the Bamboo Perfect Paws Dog Nail Trimmer, just wish they would add a plug in wall cord to the package. This is a very good nail grinder. Maneuvering the dog's paw takes a bit of practice with a smaller dog. It is a very effective grinder. I particularly like that it doesn't have an emery board-like or sandpaper replacement feature unlike similar products. It is more cost effective to purchase directly from the manufacturer than a pet depot. I would have preferred to choose the color. My cat still won't let me use this. I think it's too noisy. I followed the instructions, but still can't use it. Reverted to my old clippers. Concept it great. This is a great product I use it on my Chiwahwah and my Husky they were scared of the noise at first, but they got use to it right away. I did not want to get the clippers for fear of cutting too far, and the dog grooming place charges way too much and we still used this to smooth out their nails. It is nice for the price, but it scared my cats.Too much vibration. So I gave it to a friend with a dog.My friend bought this and we used it to trim her cat's nails. When we turned it on, it was so loud that the cat literally physically attacked the device. One of us had to hold the cat and calm him down while the other used the device to trim the cat's nails.I purchased a Bamboo Perfect Paws to trim my dogs' nails. It is quite loud and they were scared of it, but I had anticipated that. I started desensitizing them, very slowly, using canned chicken as the bait. After a few weeks, they were warming up to the trimmer and I was finally able to trim a nail or two on each. When the trimmer quit working, I assumed the batteries had died. However, after trying every combination of every AA battery in the house, the trimmer will not turn on. It just quit working, after 3 weeks. Of course I just threw the receipt away last week, so I can't even return it to the store. If you're patient and know how to desensitize your pet, this could be a very good product. However, if they are all duds, as mine was, stay away.I'll keep this short and cut straight to the chase: The grinding wheel lacks the grit necessary to be effective. It can't grind down a dog's nails enough to be of any benefit, it would be much fast and easier to use just use an emery board.
