It's not the brightest light, and that is specified with the lumins in the description, but very versatile. Fairly tough and nice all around torch for the outdoors.Nothing to crazy but the basic needs. Outer plastic shell which seems hard and the light function is different and I’m wondering how it does during winterThis is my backup for when my rechargable light runs out of juice, but it's a great backup. I should have bought this thing years ago, because not only is it bright, it's built to take a beating, and I have put it through through the gauntlet. It's awesome for work, so it will more than do the job for everyone else.I really like this light. Uses standard AA batteries- always a plus. Hard body - seems almost indestructible (G.I. Proof). I like the various lighting options. Although, personally, have no use for the Infra Red. I’m sure there are many tactical situations where this is important. I just happen to like flashlights and thought this one was pretty cool. The tech details listed with the product seem pretty accurate. Someone who plans to use this in a tactical situation may have a different opinion. But, for my uses it works great, lots of functionality, and it’s pretty cool. This has become my new favorite flashlight. On high, it's very bright, but I almost always use it on its lowest setting. With the articulating head, it's a great reading light. My book light finally died a while back, and I thought I'd give this light a try as my new reading light, and found it to be an improvement over the book light.Low power is bright enough to see anything in a room. The entire room lights up with it on high, although I almost never use it on high. The two medium settings are well calibrated between the low and high settings, making the light adaptable to multiple situations, giving you the light you need without wasting battery life. The battery life seems excellent - still on my first set of batteries after a month of daily use. 1-2 hours on low every night to read, and no sign of any approaching dimness.I also use the red led light quite a bit when using my telescope. I can use it to move around in total darkness, swap out eyepieces, etc without ruining my night vision. I haven't used the blue led much, although it's quite bright. I got the UV version, instead of the green led light, knowing that I'll eventually get a night vision device, and then I'll have an extra illumination source for it, but haven't gotten it yet, so I can't really talk about the UV light. If it's as good as the rest of the lights though, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.Lots of little pluses on this light really make it great - 4 levels of brightness for each light source makes the light very adaptable. And switching between different lights and power levels is very easy and intuitive. Tactile positive polarity markers on the outside of the light that you can feel in the dark make it easy to replace batteries in the dark. The cap to the battery compartment has a sturdy metal lanyard, so you don't lose the cap when you're replacing batteries. There is also a rubber gasket to keep water out of the battery compartment. The pivoting head makes the light very useful in a multitude of situations. This is a great all-around flashlight, and when I have a few bucks to spare, I'm going to get an extra one for my car. This is a very good light. Good qualityIf you are deciding to purchase this flashlight from this provider be aware that you may be sent an incorrect model. I based my purchase upon the model pictured in the product information. The model I chose was the same exact model that I've had for years (Single white light, red, blue, and green smaller lights) with the strobe function. I use this light in my personal life and at work. Never had a problem with the original. The model that I received in similar but has the newer feature of the IR (LED) lens that I do not need in the civilian world and especially at work (I don't use NV equipment in my ambulance). Also...the strobe feature does not work on the newly acquired flashlight.I checked the operational feature against the older light and followed the instructions in the new flashlight's instruction manual and I can state the strobe doesn't operate. It's still a nice flashlight, please don't get me wrong, but the provider either has to be more careful about product description or in choosing the item prior to shipment. If you're reviewing the Amazon website you'll find the various Streamlight models shown separately with connecting links to the other models so be careful when choosing the item that you wish to purchase.I’ve owned these types of flashlights for close to 12 years, maybe longer. I use them in aviation for the multicolor capability, red especially at night. I put one in every vehicle too. Bullet proof quality and great flashlight. The older ones were not as bright nor was the light as focused as this one. I like the IR/strobe capability and think it’s worth having. If you hike, fly or 4 wheel you want IR and the strobe. Rescuers will be using FLIR or night vision in their night searches and having an IR strobe could mean the difference between life and death.Bought a replacement for my ancient original model and the new one is sooo much better. The light from all the LEDs is brighter and smoother and the moving diffuser lens is a nice touch on my version.Note: this is still not a mega bright light, but it lasts long and does everything I need around the house or campsite. The side winder is still my fave torch!it‘s pretty good!A very nice small flashlight. Durable. All the instructions are printed on the flashlight. There are 20 settings to choose from. I added the paracord with the snake knots. I own a military angle flashlight from 1963 and it’s fun to compare the two. This flashlight should last a very long time. The adjustable angle is very useful. Update: I have added to “Ranger Bands” (from rubber bike tire inner tubes) to protect and give even a better tactical feel. This compact flashlight was exactly what I was looking for.The body is flat, which sits firmly against my backpack (if shoulder strap mounted), or flat against a vest. The head pivots smoothly allowing for 90degree operation or standard lengthwise.Being able to switch rapidly (while still on) between white, red, blue and IR is awesome. The button is a little soft, but is still tactile. This is not a huge flood light, but it is perfect for what it's designed. Well done Streamlight. My light came a debris in the reflector and a lot of dust and other particle under the lens, but I needed it for work right away and couldn’t wait for an exchange so I undid the top screw and cleaned it my self. Aside from that the light is ok, but the I.r. is disappointing. The built in ir flood light that comes with your average gen2 to gen3 monoculars are about the same if not a little better than what this unit can throw. Only use for the ir on this unit I can think of is a very short range beacon. As for ir strobe beacon, this (agains my hopes) will not be enough to replace my acr ms2000
